When John Whitbread and Kelly Wood set off on their 'honeymoon' trip, they had only just met. Still, people wondered what would happen and if romance would blossom.
Mr Whitbread said after he returned: "Everyone is hoping I've found romance again [...] Obviously not. I only recently split up with my girlfriend."
But he added: "I've made a friend out of it and it's brilliant. It could have easily gone the other way. To go on holiday with a complete stranger and get on is incredible. Hopefully we will stay friends."
Ms Wood also mentioned that she had thoroughly enjoyed the experience, made a friend for life and "loved every second of this crazy adventure!"
So, in the end it seems that Mr Whitbread and Ms Wood's honeymoon adventure did have a happy ending, even if romance was not on the cards.
You can read more about this strange honeymoon story in an original BBC News article.
