Britten and Tippet are familiar twentieth century British composers, but less so is the work of Elizabeth Maconchy.
She died in 1994 and left an impressive body of music. Her daughter, Nicola Lefanu, is also a composer and is Professor of Music at the University of York.
Henrietta Otley talks to her about her mother's work, and to the performer Diana Ambache.
