En-titled is an exhibition of new work, showcased at the Sainsbury Centre For Visual Arts (SCVA), made by young people from the eastern counties.

Created by students aged 15 to 25 years old, the work on show at the prestigious Sainsbury Centre includes painting, sculpture, animation, film and interactive work.

The works include a collaborative wall-hung mural, large-scale alien sculptures, cityscapes built from old IT equipment and even a sculpture of a skateboard.

The artists involved have been working with the SCVA, Fruitful Arts, Outpost Gallery and NR5 in Norwich, along with the Babylon Gallery in Ely and the King's Lynn Arts Centre.

The exhibition is the culmination of work by the galleries, which form the east cluster of Enquire, a nationwide project which is co-ordinated and funded by Engage, the national association for gallery education.

"I'm delighted that the students will be exhibiting their work in the Sainsbury Centre Link. All the students involved have worked with enthusiasm, made new friends and developed their skills," said Charlotte Peel of the SCVA.

"They are keen to encourage other young people to be involved in gallery life and I hope this exhibition will help to do this.

"I think it's really important to support the creative talent in the region.

"These young people have put in so much amazing work. There's so many fantastic ideas buzzing around and really, really interesting stuff, so I think it's really good to support creativity," she added.

Interactive space

En-titled also includes an interactive area, created by the Sainsbury Centre group.

The space will focus upon coloured Perspex boxes which will be lit to cast a 'moody' glow. Visitors are then able to relax on bean bags and cushions, soak up the atmosphere and post a secret into one of the boxes according to their mood.

"We made an interactive mood table trying to get young people to come to the gallery more and post secrets, fears, hopes and desire into one of the mood boxes of their choice," said student Lewis Aimes.

"It'll be interesting to see if fear would go in the red box and happiness and hopes would go into a more colourful box," he added.

En-titled runs at the Sainsbury Centre until Sunday, 13 January, 2008. Admission is free.
