Naomi Wass

Naomi Wass joined the board of BBC Media Action in February 2026.

I feel honoured to have been appointed as a Trustee of BBC Media Action.

I am a Managing Director at Accenture, a global professional services organisation. Throughout my career, I have focused on improving the effectiveness and accessibility of public services, with a particular emphasis on trusted, clear communication and the channels people rely on to access information and support. I grew up in South London, and before moving to the US I worked closely with public organisations for nearly a decade in the UK at the intersection of policy and technology to better respond to the needs of the communities they serve. 

I spent the last three years living and working in New York, partnering with state and local government agencies, public safety organisations including Police and Fire, and non-profit organisations, with a focus across the northeast of the United States. That experience deepened my understanding of how essential trusted, timely information is in enabling people to make decisions about their lives, their safety and their wellbeing - particularly for those who are least well served by public systems.

Public service, social mobility and inclusion, and the role they play in shaping opportunity, are my passion. This draws many parallels with BBC Media Action’s mission and focus on local knowledge, evidence-led work and partnership with communities. 

At a time of declining trust, growing misinformation and rapid technological change, BBC Media Action’s role has never been more important. What particularly motivates me is the organisation’s ability to combine research, storytelling and local partnerships to deliver trusted media that reaches people where it matters most. I am really looking forward to supporting BBC Media Action’s important work: amplifying local voices and helping people and communities around the world make informed decisions in complex and challenging environments.
