Dracula
The daddy of vampires, the emperor of the undead, he's the original and best - Count Dracula. Aristocratic and seductive, this tall, dark and caped gentleman lives in a gloomy castle in Transylvania, where he preys on the unwary traveller. Especially the unwary female traveller in a floaty negligee.
First appearing in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, the Count has been portrayed on film many times, with Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee probably the actors best known in the role. On screen he's come a long way from Stoker's original idea of a depraved horror - he's risen from his grave countless times, had several brides, a daughter and a son, fought Frankenstein's monster, gone to Vegas, and encountered a lot of well-endowed screaming ladies. He's even appeared in Buffy.
Stoker got the name Dracula from an old book about Vlad the impaler. It's said that the idea for the book came to him in a restless dream after eating too much dressed crab.
