Roger Fenton was a founding member of the Royal Photographic Society and one of the most influential photographers of the 1850s. Fenton often placed people within his architectural and landscape photographs to create a sense of scale and narrative. Fenton photographed many of the popular tourist attractions and beauty spots that thrived as a result of the mid-19th century boom in easy and affordable rail travel.
