REMEMBERING A HERO
By Jaimal Singh Johol
Jaimal
tells the story of his courageous Grandfather, Manta. He fought in the British
Indian Army in the First World War and was injured on the front line whilst saving
his commanding officer.
He was hospitalised in Brighton but didn’t survive his wounds. Along with many other Sikh and Hindu soldiers he was cremated and buried at the Chattri memorial at Patcham.
