Students in Illinois’s 11th and 12th grades who are committed to become highly engaged educators in Illinois’s schools of need are encouraged to apply for the Golden Apple Scholarship of Illinois program, which provides training and tuition support for teachers. We get ambitious, caring people ready for the toughest classrooms on the planet.

Students Acquire:

Combined college aid of up to $23,000, extensive classroom experience, and a chance to become a teacher

Scholarship Methods of Application
Submit a complete online application with a personal statement and references.
Send in Your Unofficial Transcripts for Grading
Results on a Standardized Test (ACT or SAT)
For the Golden Apple Scholars Program, standardized test scores are recommended but not needed. Students who choose not to submit test scores will be evaluated based on the quality of their course selection, GPA, grade trend, personal statements, and level of participation.
After being inducted into the Scholars program, students are required to submit standardized exam scores for use in research.
Submitting standardized test scores is a requirement for all homeschooled pupils.

Participation in the Golden Apple Scholars Program Requirements

The Points of Entry

Students from the Illinois high school class of 2022 who are entering their freshman or sophomore years of college at one of our partner universities
Students at Illinois’s community colleges
Prerequisites in General
Senior in high school in Illinois, first- or second-year college student in an Illinois university, or student at an Illinois community college.
You must be a citizen of the United States, a non-citizen who meets certain requirements, or a student who has proper documentation to study in Illinois.

Prerequisites for Completion
Comply with ISAC’s program specifications
2.5 GPA
Complying with the Golden Apple Scholar Institutes’ Code of Conduct
Degree from an Illinois Partner College or University Bachelor’s in Education Certification to Teach in Illinois
You must commit to a five-year teaching stint at a low-income Illinois school within seven years after receiving your degree.
