Did
you fall in love to the sound of Glenn Miller? Perhaps you remember
cooking with powdered eggs? Were you a 'coca cola' kid? Or do you
know someone who did or was?
If
so, why not pay a visit to Showtime, a free variety show at the
Bedford Corn Exchange on 27 and 28 May.
As
part of its People's War project, the BBC, in conjunction with Bedford
Borough Council and local voluntary organisation Frame of Mind,
is the key supporter of this concert hall performance which will
bring together local talent in a varied programme of song and dance
reminiscent of years gone by.
From
In the Mood to Chicago by way of Lindyhopping, you can enjoy an
afternoon of nostalgia as we prepare for the 60th anniversary of
D-Day celebrations.
The
event will be free for local senior citizens but as seating is limited,
priority will be given to those willing to participate in the BBC's
People's War project by sharing their World War Two story.
You
might even like to bring along the outline of your story to the
Showtime event, where it can be logged. You will then be invited
you to record your family story or personal memory at the BBC WW2
Roadshow, which will be in the Civic Theatre from 27 May to 12 June.
There will be an exciting programme of activities alongside this
event too!
