| This
artical brought back some good memories for me as i used to
work at the George and Dragon Hotel in the village. The Hotel
has a "monks hole" where i was told monks hid from persecution
and that a staircase ran from over in the corner of this hideaway
to a tunnel which ran under the road to facilitate their escape.
How true this is i do not know, but to enter this "monks hole"
one drew a partition to one side, that looked like a panelled
wall, unless you were shown what it was you wouldn't have known
it was there. I would love to now if this story had an truth
to it but it is a nice story wether or not. Sue |
