A brand new project gives 13-19 year olds in Beds, Herts and Bucks the chance to say what they want on the BBC in their own way. Teenagers are often misunderstood. The stereotypical image of Kevin the teenager - shoulders hunched with a face longer than a list of Chinese human rights abuses - is often what we think when it comes to the yoof of today. ![]() But meet Jade and Oli, teenagers from Luton, who wanted to change all that. They were looking for a way to talk about teens and the things that matter to them. So they came up with Random Radio. It's a project which gives 13-19 year olds in schools and colleges across the three counties a platform on the BBC to express their views, tell their stories and explain some of the things that others might not understand. Relationships, money and stress are just some of the topics that Jade and Oli have covered so far. "It's about anything that's important to teenagers", says Jade, "There are so many different things that people just don't get about us and we want to say it in our own way." As part of the process Jade and Oli have benefited from the experience of BBC professionals and have been trained in interviewing skills and techniques for making radio.
