Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has turned down a call-up from Otto Addo for the crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Nigeria’s Super Eagles, according to Pure FM.
The 21-year-old right-back was strongly linked with a call-up for next Friday’s at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
But, the latest reports from broadcast journalist Bright Kankam Boadu claim the pint-size defender has rejected the call-up and won’t be available for the game.
The lateral defender was born to Ghanaian parents in Hillingdon in the United Kingdom and has represented England at various youth levels including U18, U19, U20, and U21.
Lamptey began his youth career at Chelsea in 2008 and grew through the ranks until he made his professional debut in 2019.
Ghanaian portal Sports World Ghana reported on Saturday morning that the defender had been handed a call-up for the game but Kankam Boadu has confirmed the youngster won’t be available for the game.
“I can confirm that Tariq Lamptey won’t be available for the game,” he said.
