Michael Lipman (Chas Williamson)

Scrum expected as Bath's Lipman joins Tap Dogs at Theatre Royal

Michael Lipman is swapping his rugby boots for tap shoes at the Theatre Royal for one night only. The Bath Rugby and England forward is taking to the stage with the Tap Dogs for charity.

Dressed in workboots, jeans and a T-shirt, Michael will be performing with the Olivier Award-winning dance troupe on Wednesday, 24 January, 2007 to help promote the TLC Foundation.

The charity was set up by Brent Cockbain, the Wales and British Lions lock, in memory of his son to help children with cancer and leukaemia.

Brent joined the Tap Dogs onstage at their recent performances in Cardiff, and Michael was keen to take up the opportunity of learning tap dance too.

Speaking to BBC Somerset Sound's Elise Rayner, Michael said: "I haven't really got any qualities on the dance floor so to speak, but we'll see how it goes - it should be fun!"
