If you're over 18 and a Somerset resident, then the Great Somerset Arts Adventure needs you. Being an adventurer means you'll be taken on a series of magical mystery tours which could include an exhibition, a film, a concert, a dance performance, or a piece of theatre - numerous perks are on offer too. There are ten different experiences, and they're all free. Transport to the events is also provided. In fact, the experience starts as soon as you climb aboard one of the buses, as up until that moment, you won't know where you're going! Arts-tastic! The journey starts in January 2007 and lasts throughout the year. It's a brand spanking new scheme, and the first of its kind in Somerset. Jo Dereza created the idea in partnership with Somerset Arts Promoters. "People aren't always aware of the range of wonderful arts venues we have in the county," says Jo. "We want the scheme to prove that Somerset has a really vibrant arts scene and being part of it needn't break the bank. "We also hope that the tours will open up a whole world of experiences, encourage people to try new things and talk to others about their trips." Get involved The Great Somerset Arts Adventure is looking for anyone that would like to take up this new challenge - you don't have to be a regular theatre-goer or music-lover. For an information leaflet or further details, call 01458 251694. Leaflets can also be picked up at outlets across the county. Be quick, though - recruitment for the scheme ends in November 2006. The Great Somerset Arts Adventure is supported by Arts Council England South West, Somerset County Council, ArtLife, Mendip District Council, Sedgemoor District Council and Taunton Borough Council. |
