Dilshan was among the names considered for the Man of the Series of 2015 WC

The announcement comes after both captain Kumar Sangakkara and vice-captain Mahela Jayawardene resigned after the World Cup final in Mumbai.

Sangakkara, however, said he would remain as the captain of the Test team for the England tour.

The select committee chaired by Aravinda de Silva also tendered their resignations after the defeat to India.

The new select committee headed by Duleep Mendis is yet to appoint the replacement for Jayawardane.

"The National Selectors have postponed the appointment of a Vice Captain, since the prospective candidates are nursing injuries, and their availability for the forthcoming tour is still in question," the SLC statement said.

Angelo Mathews is widely tipped to be Sri Lanka's vice-captain but was forced to withdraw from the World Cup final due to injuries.
