LTTE given back bodies of fighters

The Sri Lankan army says it's handed over the bodies of thirty rebels to Tamil Tiger guerrillas in the north of the island.
The International Committee of the Red Cross oversaw the transfer. According to the military, the rebels were killed over the past few days in clashes in Mullaitivu district. About twenty Sri Lankan government soldiers were also killed and several others wounded. Clashes have intensified in recent months following government promises to seize territory from the rebels. |
