Military says 32 LTTE cadres and four soldiers died in the battle
The Sri Lankan military says it has killed thirty-two Tamil Tiger rebels in fighting in the north of the island.

Four soldiers also died in the latest clashes in Jaffna, Mannar, Welioya and Vavuniya.

The government also said its troops had captured three square kilometres of land in Mannar.

The rebels confirmed that heavy fighting had taken place but did not give any casualty figures.
