Defence Ministry says Padmanadan is one of the most wanted men by Interpol
A top Tamil Tiger leader was arrested by the Thai authorities, media reports said.

Bangkok Post said Kumaran Padmanadan, known as KP, was arrested in Bangkok on Monday evening.

"Thailand has arrested the finance chief of the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka, allegedly the group's chief procurer of arms," the Bangkok Post said.

One of the most wanted men by the Interpol, Padmandan has been running one of the two major international wings of the LTTE, according to Sri Lanka Defence Ministry.

However, Thai police officials have denied any knowledge of a such arrest.

Head of Thai Interpol, Col. Apichart Suribunya, told BBC Bangkok Bureau that the Thai police have not arrested Kumaran Pathmanadan.
