'Joining soon' says Rajitha

United National party (UNP) MP Rajitha Senaratne says it is certain that about twenty UNP mps are set to defect to the government soon.

He said this move is to infuse new life to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the goverment and the UNP leadership.

"The MOU has become ineffective and is just a paper", Senaratne said.

The UNP MPs joining the government are going to give value to the MOU, he said.

Asked whether defecting UNP MPs are looking forward to accept ministerial posts,Senaratne replied though there are no preconditions they will accept portfolios.

When told UNP was making the present cabinet still bigger by accepting ministerial posts, he said, the number will be reduced in the forthcoming cabinet reshuffle.

Senaratne said they, the UNP MPs are supportive of the Mahinda Chintana but would not support the war.

"We will stick to the MOU signed by the UNP government",UNP MP Rajitha Senaratne added.
