Vidhu
Vinod Chopra's family melodrama, Eklavya, which had a bumper
opening in the UK cinemas earlier this year, has been nominated
as India's official entry for the Oscars in the best foreign
movie category.
Contemporary
India forms the backdrop for thriller/drama focusing on a
majestic fort where a royal dynasty no longer rules but
there is a royal guard living in a time warp protecting the
fort and it's family members.
The
film stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role supported by
Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan,
This
is the third time that a film by Vidhu Vinod Chopra got nominated.
His previous two films included An Encounter with Faces (1980)
and Parinda (1989).
