Professor James Tooley questions what feminism has done for women. In his latest book, The Mis-education of Women, Professor Tooley asserts that feminism has not delivered the goods and, by raising expectations, done women a disservice. He believes working women are desperately unhappy and has called this state the Bridget Jones Syndrome.
Has feminist education created the Bridget Jones generation?
Sparks may fly.... in this Woman's Hour special programme as Jenni talks to Professor Tooley about his theory and then asks think tank founder Helen Wilkinson, Head of Southend High School for Girls, Ruth Alinek and Professor Germaine Greer for their thoughts. The Mis-education of Women by Professor James Tooley, published by Continuum, London; ISBN 0826450954
