  Bethany Hamilton 06 April 2005
Great white shark
Bethany  was one of the top young surfers in America when in October 2003 she lost her arm in a shark attack

She was 13 years old and it could have ended her promising career in the sport. But despite her serious injury, she was back competing again just 3 months after leaving hospital and has continued to gain leading positions in surfing contests.

Now she has published a book about her life story. Bethany talks to Jenni about why surfing is so important to her and what drives her on.
