a new star of opera
Katie van Kooten's last singing role was for a company offering opera for corporate entertainment. Before that she was in a student production at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. But on Tuesday, she made her debut at Covent Garden, not in a minor role, but as Magda, the lead in Puccini's La rondine.
Katie talks to Martha about her meteoric rise to stardom.
