why was so little known of the music of this accomplished English composer?
Composer and violinist, Rebecca Clarke was a contemporary of Vaughan Williams and Holst but it is only in the last 20 years since her death that her work is being rediscovered.
To mark the 25th anniversary of her death this week, her work is being performed along with those of other women composers at St James' Piccadilly on Saturday.
Fiona Clampin meets her niece Becky Evans and her biographer Liane Curtis to find more about Rebecca's life and why so little was know about her work.
