Re-thinking our attitudes towards sleep in later life
40% of people over fifty regularly complain about sleeping badly. By the age of sixty, a third of people living together sleep in separate rooms, and one in ten visits to the GP are arranged to complain about the difficulties in getting a full night’s kip.
At the end of a 3 year study into the sleeping habits of 1,500 women over forty, one of the authors of the report talks to Jenni Murray about why we need to reappraise our sleeping patterns later in life.
