Why her friend wants to keep the memory of the gifted soprano alive
Susan Chilcott's portrayal of Lisa in Tchaikovsky 's Queen of Spades opposite Placido Domingo at her debut at the Royal Opera House in 2002, received glowing reviews. This was all the more impressive as during this time she was battling with breast cancer. She died in September last year of the disease at the age of 40.
Radio 3 presenter and pianist Iain Burnside was Susan's best friend. He explains to Jenni why he feels it is important to keep her memory alive, and about his new responsibility as legal guardian of Susan's young son Hugh.
