  Louise Bourgeois 26 Apr 2004
The artist is best-known for her huge spider at the opening of Tate Modern in London.

The 92-year-old near recluse uses carving, installation, castings, text and illustration in her work: needlecraft is her most recent exploration.

Bourgeois has rarely been interviewed and Zevi Whatmough's report includes part of  a 1994 Arena  interview with her.  Zevi also talks to director of the Gallery, Fiona Bradley.

Stitches in Time is at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh until 9 May
