As a new restaurant opens in one of the coolest corners of London, Woman's Hour discovers how cooking born of slavery, poverty and hunger has come to grace some of the most fashionable tables in the country. It's the taste of the American Deep South: collard greens, succotash, fried catfish, hush puppies and chitterlings.
Charita Jones, chef at Momma Cherri's in Brighton cooks succulent catfish and hush puppies.
And Ashbell McElveen, chef at Ashbell's in London, joins Martha and Charita to discuss the glamorisation of poverty food. Try Momma Cherri's recipes: Corn BreadHush PuppiesSucculent Catfish
