Mende Nazer was born in the remote Nuba Mountains in Sudan, but at the age of 12 she was abducted during a raid on her village, and sold into slavery.
For several years she worked for an Arab woman in Khartoum, before being passed on to a relative of her master, who lived in London. There, eventually, she managed to escape.
Mende joins Jenni to tell her shocking story of modern day slavery, and about how she's coming to terms with a new life as a free woman. Slave by Mende Nazer and Damien Lewis is published by Virago Press; ISBN: 1844081141
