As the Chinese New Year is celebrated, Woman's Hour looks at the revival of a lost Chinese musical instrument.
The ancient five string pipa, or Chinese lute, had all but disappeared, but a new one has now been made, and three women composers from very different traditions have each been commissioned to create an original work for the instrument.
Reporter, Anna Egan meets Cheng Yu who has rebuilt the five string pipa, composer Gillian Carcas, and Dr Keith Howard from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
