This week the English National Opera opens an ambitious production of Margaret's Atwood's famous novel The Handmaid's Tale. Originally performed in Danish, the opera was a huge success in Copenhagen.
Claudia Hammond went to London's Coliseum to speak to the designer Peter McKintosh, the director Phyllida Lloyd, Composer Paul Ruders and to two of the principal singers - about making such a complex book into an opera. The Handmaid's Tale opens at the Coliseum on Thursday.
