Antonia Franceschi grew up running with Manhattan street gangs. Then one day she saw Margot Fonteyne at the Met and her life was transformed.
She funded her own way through dance school, appeared in the movie Fame and was hand picked to apprentice with the New York City Ballet. She now lives and works in London.
Antonia Franceschi joins Jenni to talk about her new production - Up From the Waste - the autobiographical story of a young woman who escapes a tough street life through ballet. The production of 'Up From the Waste' opens on 3 December 2002 at the Albany Theatre, London
