The poet Alice Oswald has been called Ted Hughes' rightful heir. She lives with her husband and two children at Dartington in Devon. The place and its river were the inspiration for her second collection of poetry, called simply Dart.
Oswald has spent the past three years talking to fishermen, ferrymen, foresters and swimmers. The work follows the River Dart from its source on Dartmoor to the sea and combines the voice of the river with the words of those who work alongside it.
Alice Oswald talks about the river and how she came to write the poem.
