A quiet revolution is underway on Britain's allotments. Councils around the country are reporting a significant increase in the number of women taking up empty plots.
Traditionally associated with retired men, tending long rows of cabbages and potatoes, women are now finding new, greener and easier ways to garden. They are planting more ambitious crops and reclaiming these often neglected open spaces.
Isobel Eaton has been hearing from the new breed of allotment holders in Bristol.
