Mary Contini Monday 29 July 2002
Mary Contini is known as the author of the Easy Peasy cookery books for children and one of the driving forces behind the cafe and bakery, Valvona and Crolla in Edinburgh.

Her new book Dear Francesca: A Cookbook With Love aims to tell her eldest daughter the hard journey their ancestors took to escape poverty in Southern Italy in order to make a new life in a colder climate.
Using old family photographs, letters, anecdotes and recipes, Mary pieces together what it's like to leave your roots behind and arrive in an alien culture.
Simon Parkes went to meet her in Edinburgh.
Mary Contini, Dear Francesca: A Cookbook With Love, published by Ebury Press, ISBN: 0091881765
