  Hens Monday 11 February 2002
Doyenne of the chicken world Francine Raymond started keeping hens in her garden 12 years ago and she would be the first to remind you that nearly everyone kept their own hens before World War II. But the tradition has dwindled over the decades.

Francine is the author of a book on keeping hens in your garden. It gives basic advice to beginners and has now sold 12,000 copies.
Sarah Woolman goes to Suffolk to visit Francine's kitchen garden and to meet the chickens.
