Why aren't more women buying classical music?
Although opera and concert audiences are made up of equal numbers of men and women, when it comes to purchasing it's men who take the lead. 70% of all classical albums are bought by men and a recent survey of Gramophone magazine discovered that 87% of its readers are male.
Jenni is joined by James Jolly, Editor of Gramophone, about why his readership tends to be middle-aged, middle-class and male.
Jane Glover, Conductor with the English National Opera, and Anna Picard, classical music reviewer for The Independent on Sunday, join the discussion.
