Dame Cicely Saunders is the founder of the modern hospice movement and has just received the Conrad N Hilton Humanitarian Prize - the world's largest humanitarian award - of one million dollars.
Dame Cicely won the award for her contribution to the alleviation of suffering and was one of the medical pioneers featured in a Woman's Hour series last year.
Claudia Hammond went to St Christopher's Hospice in South London where Claire Barracliffe explained the practical legacy of Dame Cicely last year.
