 Increase in the number of seats for women
Recent local elections in some parts of India have for the first time reserved 50% of the seats for women, previously it was 33%. How has this level of local women’s representation evolved? Is it reflective of the broader changes in Indian women’s lives? And what kind of difference, if any, will it make?
