A first time British win for two women
Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke secured gold at this year’s World Bobsleigh Championships at Lake Placid in New York. They became the first-ever British women to achieve the feat, and at the heart of their success lay the social-networking website Facebook. Nicola found her fellow gold-medallist Gillian Cooke through the website after messaging 20 young women who seemed to have the right attributes for competitive bobsledding.
