How can we prevent its demise?
Front gardens are disappearing from our suburbs, but used to be our pride and joy. It is thought they provide a vital social space and also protect our towns and cities from flooding, but many of us are choosing to replace them with concrete and cars. Jenny Uglow, author of A Little History of British Gardening, and Diane Anderson, a lecturer in horticulture at Askham Bryan College in York, join Miriam to discuss a very British gardening tradition.
A Little History of British Gardening by Jenny Uglow is published by Chatto & Windus, ISBN 0-701-16928-1The National Garden's Scheme The Royal Horticultural Society Front garden design Disclaimer
