What do our decorating choices say about us?
A generation of homeowners took up DIY as the only practical way of maintaining their homes after the war, but necessity became a pastime and the trend for flamboyant interior design peaked in the 1990s when home makeover programmes were a mainstay of the TV schedules. Jane is joined by designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Christine Lalumia from the Geffrye Museum to discuss the merits of chucking out the chintz and unblocking the fireplace.
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's History of Home- a 10 part series begins at 3.45PM on Easter Monday.
