If slugs are really killed by weak coffee, as recently reported, at first sight it seems the answer to many gardeners' prayers. But what about the effect on things that eat the coffee-flavoured slugs, like thrushes or hedgehogs? And since the original solution containing
caffeine was being tested for controlling tree frogs, does this mean coffee might kill amphibians?
