Quentin Howard

Listen to the item

In 1965 Quentin Howard and his brothers used public transport to travel from their home in Ilkley to school in Bradford . His brothers left home and walked 200 yards down the road to catch the number 63 bus which dropped them just outside the school. Simple.

But where's the challenge, where's the style? Quentin chose a different route. One which would get him to school in time to avoid the detention imposed on any straggler who rolled in after the five minutes past nine deadline. A route which would get him there - not late, not early but just in time.
