A girl named Bill

Christine's father was an army Major serving in India shortly before the Second World War when his second daughter was born.
Her father had wanted his second child to be a boy - so much so that he was convinced she was going to be a boy. He decided that the baby was going to be called Bill.
Nature had other ideas and when Christine arrived, her dad got a bit of a shock. He thought his baby girl could still appreciate all thing boyish - so he called her Bill anyway.
Christine, or Auntie Bill as she's known to her nephews and nieces, doesn't feel that being called by a man's name and brought up surrounded by army men has been a disadvantage. She says it has made her a stronger person.
