Pete's Story

Listen to the item

Pete (not his real name) is currently on probation having served half of a three year sentence for attempted kidnap. In prison, Pete found himself segregated with sex offenders because his crime was considered to have had a sexual motive.

Although he had committed a minor offence with sexual implications much earlier in his life, this attempted kidnap was by far the worst thing Pete had done. Heavy drinking throughout his adult life exacerbated his problems and he committed a crime which put his victim through a terrifying experience.

Pete talks about the sequence of events which led up to his imprisonment.

You can call the BBC Actionline on 0800 044 044 for information on organisations that can offer help and advice to victims of assault
