Transcript of the interview:
It's a sad day for football! I dunno what's happening in this club. He was a lovely lad you know. A diamond. Last time I spoke to Warren Taylor was at the charity fund-raiser in the Hospitality Room. We had words. He'd been all over the place out on the park and I'd had to tear him off a strip. He missed a key penalty, schoolboy error! It's a wonder we got away with it. Won the game, that is. But angry? No way. We had a professional discussion, that's all.
He was drunk. Talked about jacking it in. Retiring. I tried to argue him out of it. Told him he'd still got a lot of potential as a player, as long as he could stay sober. And keep off the marching powder. It's well known he had his demons there. There's been talk about him and that Lloyd Lovell's missus too, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
I only stayed at the party a few minutes. Then I went to my office. I had some work to do and had to re-think my team tactics. Stephanie Lovell came and picked up some shopping she'd left there earlier. Oh, and I called my wife and let her know I'd be late. Next thing I know, everybody's piling in babbling about how he's dead. And he still had 12 months to run on his contract. It's a tragedy.
