For
the fifth year running the Medfest united all Meadows people in
the sunshine for a day.
The Meadows was filled with music, dancing, eating, learning or
just chilling and the carnival atmosphere was broadcast live on
BBC Radio Nottingham.
This year's theme was Tropicana. So it was a colourful event with
a heavy flavour of the tropics.
Meadows
children, young people and adults unleashed their creative side
making decorations for the floats including a 12-foot bird in preparation
for the carnivals opening event.
The street parade, full of colour and dancing, weaved through the
streets of the Meadows, ending at the festival site at Queens Walk
Recreation Park.
The floats carried not only the kids designs but also the Silver
Stars steel band, Umoja dance troop and local school kids.
At the recreation park children from the Meadows primary schools
designed, planned and ran their own stalls on the theme of Tropicana,
pirates and treasure.
All day everyone had a chance to enjoy mehndi, get covered in henna
body art, join in with African drumming workshops - all to the beat
of Meadows musicians showcasing their talent.
Enjoy the tropical atmosphere of the Medfest carnival with our Carnival Gallery.
