The Late Shift is a series of open art events, organised by the Sainsbury Centre For Visual Arts (SCVA), which showcases a range of innovative and experimental live performance. Organisers are inviting submissions from performers, artists, musicians, dancers and poets for individual or group proposals for the spring 2007 programme. "The idea behind The Late Shift is to provide a platform for interesting new performance work," said project organiser Liz Ballard. "Whilst we're only able to offer people expenses for performing, we hope that it will offer people a unique opportunity to experiment and develop their creativity in unique surroundings," she added. The Late Shift provides artists an arena to present new work to new audiences. "Submissions are welcome from anyone from poets to DJs, to actors and musicians," said Liz. "We are particularly keen to encourage submissions from young people and emerging artists and hope that the events will attract a wide audience, bringing an energy and vibrancy to the gallery on a Wednesday night when we're open late," she added. Organisers are keen that submissions should explore new performance possibilities and that artists use the opportunity to try out new ideas through experimentation, exploration and the transformation of the galleries, studio and café spaces at the SCVA. Submissions for The Late Shift proposals must be completed by 20 December and include: - Completed submission form
- Documentation appropriate to the work (please refer to submission form)
- Artists CV
- Stamped addressed protective envelope with correct postage for the safe return of submitted material.
