Troy and Tyson Burden have made a film about their experiences of being homeless.

Tyson and Troy Burden

It coincides with the BBC's No Home campaign which marks the 40th anniversary of the film Cathy Come Home.

The film shocked the general public by introducing many to the realities of Britain's homeless people. A reality that is still with us today.

Day 1

Troy: Before I come into the hostel I was homeless for six months, sleeping rough with my little brother. Since my little brother got out of prison in February this year he's had no help from the system. He feels the system has let him down and they haven't really helped re-house him. The YOP teams have done nothing for him and he feels he might re-offend.

I've been in the hostel for about a month now and I'm slowly starting to get my life back on track and if I bear with it, hopefully I should get a place out of it.

The only reason why my little brother couldn't go back home to Thetford when he got out of prison is that basically we're banned from going back to the house, so that's how we've become homeless.

Day 2

Tyson: All I want is a place to stay and a place to be warm and have comfort. No one's done nothing for me-I've tried my best but …even the Youth Offending Team they can't do nothing for me, I've tried it, everyone I've asked…nothing.

Troy: Basically we've been dossing. Sofa-surfing, sleeping on people's settees and stuff.

I've now just managed to get a place in the hostel. Basically what it was, my brother got offered a bed and he didn't turn up for four days so they give his bed to me - which basically I think is wrong.

I had to take the bed, my brother was upset, but at the end of the day I'm going through the system now, so I'll probably be able to put my little brother up soon.

A few days later

Tyson: Well things are looking up for me now, I've been told that I'm getting a room (in the hostel). Things are looking good.

Tyson: I'm much happier now that I've got somewhere to live. Must go out and celebrate tonight I reckon.
Troy: I feel rather gutted.

Interviewer: Why?
Troy: Cos I've got him under me skin 24/7 now! Only joking, love you to bits brother really.

Interviewer: Is this your first home?
Tyson: No (both young men agree they spent some time in another hostel but were forced to move out)
Troy: They'll look after you here, we'll get some decent meals into you boy and you can start putting some weight on.

Interviewer: How do you feel about your future now?
Tyson: Going up in the world aren't I?
Troy: Yeah watch this space
